PROGRAM CURRICULUM
Learn Lean Thinking & Continuous Improvement Fundamentals with expert instructors certified by nationally recognized organizations, applying concepts through simulations and real-life projects.

Time Commitment
- 14-weeks with x hours of classroom and on-line
educational learning (optional) - Bi-weekly 30-minute coaching sessions with advisor
- Project related team meetings – time is based on project demands
Leadership Development
- Graduation celebration at the end of the program to report out on projects to larger audience within the organization
- All cohort graduates have the option to receive mentoring for career development by executive leader(s) post course completion
Executive Leadership Sponsor – 4 hour training for ongoing sustainability and alignment.

Program Overview
- Cohort format with up to 12 – 16 participants
- Sessions can be in-person, virtual, or a hybrid approach
- Simulation exercises where students gain experience practicing tools in low stakes environment
- Intended to mirror key concepts learned in class
- Simulated and / or “real life” project-based learning under the guidance of PI experts focused on challenges in your industry
- Collaborative learning on educational lessons, concepts and applications
- Exposure to Executive Leaders and guest speakers
- Participants learn to use simple practical tools they can both use during and after class
- Participants demonstrate competency of material prior to course completion
- Includes course workbook, access to e-learning modules, and tools
- Coaches with healthcare experience give real-time feedback to participants during project work

Course Project

- Project will focus on a limited scope healthcare issue needing to be solved
- All projects will receive organizational leadership approval
Course Objectives
- Be able to identify the 8 wastes in a process (DOWNTIME)
- Be able to capture current state, utilizing tools such as Waste Walk, Process Map, and Occurrence Tracker
- Be able to set a SMART goal (Specific, Measurable, Attaineble, Relevant, Time-Bound)
- Be able to analyze causes of a problem using Fishbones & 5 Why tools
- Be able to follow a structured Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle to implement and test countermeasures
- Understand how to create & maintain standard work
- Understand how error proofing, visual management, and can be used to support process improvement efforts
- Understand the basic tenants of value stream mapping, including flow & pull
- Be able to apply A3 problem-solving in and out the workplace
